Terms of service
Effective date: 2026-10-27.
By creating a role or using a ApplyReel link you accept these terms. ApplyReel is sold to businesses (employers), not to consumers.
What we sell
ApplyReel is a web service for asynchronous (one-way) video screening. An employer creates a role with 3 to 8 questions and shares one link. Candidates record answers in a phone or desktop browser without an account. The employer reviews the answers, rates candidates, adds comments, and may share a review link with a second reviewer. ApplyReel makes no hiring decisions and does no AI scoring or emotion analysis. People review every answer.
Price and what a purchase includes
One live role costs 39 USD (one-time, not a subscription). A role is live for 30 days from activation and accepts up to 150 candidate interviews, where one interview is one candidate's full set of answers. Prices are in US dollars. Applicable sales tax or VAT is calculated and added at checkout by Paddle.
Payment is not yet open. Until it is, roles are activated by us for demos and free first roles on request.
Payment and merchant of record
Orders are processed by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the merchant of record for paid orders. Paddle handles payment, invoicing, taxes and refund payouts. Paddle's buyer terms apply to the purchase. We never see card numbers.
Refunds
See the refund policy.
Employer responsibilities
- You decide which questions to ask and how you use the answers. You are responsible for lawful, job-related hiring criteria and for all employment decisions.
- Tell candidates who will see their recording, why it is collected, how long it is kept, and how to request deletion. Offer an alternative way to complete the first screen to candidates who cannot or prefer not to record video.
- Keep your admin link, candidate link and review link private. Anyone holding a link can act as that user. Share review links only with people involved in the hiring decision.
- If you use ApplyReel in Illinois, or with Illinois residents, or in any other place with a video interview or recording law, you are responsible for the notices, consents and deletion duties that law places on the employer. ApplyReel does no AI analysis of candidates, so the AI notice and consent duties of the Illinois Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act are not triggered by ApplyReel itself. They can still apply if you run recordings through another tool.
- You warrant that you may upload the content you submit and that your use complies with applicable law, including recording-notice and consent rules and anti-discrimination law.
Acceptable use
No unlawful discrimination, harassment, impersonation, unauthorised recording, malicious files, or disclosure of candidate videos to people who should not see them. We may suspend a role or remove content that breaks these rules or the law, and will tell you why where we can.
Content and data
You and your candidates keep your rights in your content. You give us a limited licence to store and process it only to provide the service. We do not sell personal data and do not use recordings for advertising or AI training. Videos and candidate data are deleted automatically as described in the privacy notice: 30 or 90 days (your choice per role) after the role's live window ends.
Availability
We run the service on Cloudflare infrastructure and aim for it to be available during a role's live window, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. If we fail to deliver a paid role, we refund it in full.
Liability and governing law
Warranty disclaimer
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we give no implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose, and we do not promise that the service is error free, that every recording will upload on every phone and browser, or that it will give a particular hiring result.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost hires, or loss of data caused by events outside our control. Our total liability for any claim about a role is limited to the amount you paid for that role. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
Indemnity
You will cover us for third party claims and costs that arise from your hiring decisions, the questions you ask, your content, or your breach of these terms or the law (for example a candidate claim about how you used a recording). We will tell you promptly about such a claim and let you help with the defence.
Termination
You can stop using ApplyReel at any time. A role ends when its live window ends, and you can ask us to delete it earlier. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or the law, or to protect candidates or the service, and will tell you why where we can. If we end your access for a reason other than your breach, we refund the unused paid role. Sections on liability, indemnity, governing law and data deletion survive termination.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. Before any court case, please email us and give us 30 days to fix the problem. Disputes that remain are decided by the District Court of Denpasar (Bali), Indonesia. Paddle's own buyer terms govern your payment to Paddle. If you are in the United States, this does not take away rights that mandatory local law gives you.
Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date above changes when we do. Roles bought before a change keep the terms they were bought under.
